Electronics for Combustion Engines
Modern engines and powertrains in the vehicle are equipped with continuously rising number of electronics and mechatronics components. Accordingly, also the effort for development and calibration of powertrain electronics increases constantly. To face this challenge, vehicle engineers need a solid fundamental understanding of the mechatronic actuators and sensors and the interaction with the engine control unit (ECU).
In this semester Prof. Andert offers again the lecture "Electronics on the Combustion Engine" and thus enables interested students to gain a comprehensive view of electronic components in drive technology. The lecture is interdisciplinary and therefore interesting with different disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or computer science. A large number of exhibits combined with personal experiences from the industry will provide a practical insight into the topic. In addition, the lecture is designed to be interactive in that Prof. Andert asks open questions in the room to encourage the participants to actively participate. For more information, please refer to the attached PDF file in the Post-It.
If we have awakened your interest, we would be pleased to welcome you to the lecture.
Content
This lecture covers the fundamentals of various control actuators for gasoline and diesel engines and their potential to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. Important ECU functions and their conversion into electrical signals which directly influence the engine are preented.
The increasing interaction between engine, chassis and gearbox control units and the effect on network security, reliability as well as the electromagnetic tolerance are explained attending various examples of modern vehicles.
