Modern vehicle drives are characterized by an increasing amount of electronics and mechatronics. Engineers are expected to have a fundamental knowledge of the possible and current control options for the relevant drive components, as well as a profound knowledge of vehicle electronics.

In this semester Professor Andert offers again the lecture "Electronics in Mobile Propulsion" and thus enables interested students to gain a comprehensive view of electronic components in drive technology. The lecture is interdisciplinary and therefore interesting with different disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or computer science. A large number of exhibits combined with personal experiences from the industry will provide a practical insight into the topic. In addition, the lecture is designed to be interactive and encourages the participants to actively participate. For more information, please refer to the attached PDF file in the Post-It.

If we have awakened your interest, we would be pleased to welcome you to the lecture.

Content

In this course, the basic correlations of electronic control functions and their effects on efficiency and emissions are outlined. The functionality of electronic control units is explained, as well as the conversion of signals into direct influences on the drive components.

The increasingly important networking of powertrain control units with other domains such as driver assistance systems and body electronics is also demonstrated using specific examples. Central aspects such as safety, reliability, electromagnetic compatibility are also covered.

Topics

  • Key Sensors
  • Key Actuators
  • Automotive electrics and hybrid technology
  • Hardware structure of control units
  • Electromagnetic compatibility
  • Bus Systems
  • Practice orientation

Information

The course is offered in the winter semester. For dates of lectures and exercises in winter semester 2021/22, please refer to the PDF document.

All lecture and exercise documents for this lecture series can be found in RWTHmoodle. If you have any problems with the registration on Campus Office, . We're here to help.

Examination

At the end of the event your theoretical knowledge is assessed in an oral examination. We offer two examination dates and you will have the opportunity to influence these dates to avoid any collisions with other examination dates.

The announcement date of the oral examination will take place on our website and in the RWTHmoodle.
