Content

In the lecture, students in mechanical engineering are introduced to the subject function and software development which is necessary for modern powertrains development. Starting with the system requirements of modern propulsion systems the following necessary development activity, technology and methods for following development steps (specification, architecture development, implementation, testing, acceptance) will be explained.

The exercise will update the lecture content and also contains practical parts (creation of a software function with Matlab/Simulink).

The lecture is particular aimed to engineers who want to gain insight the development of motor drives. Goal of the lecture is to teach the basic knowledge that is necessary for the daily work in the profession.

Topics

  • Software-development process
  • System Desgin and Architecture development
  • Requirments development
  • Modeling of Software, Codegeneration, Integration
  • Toolchain development
  • Software-Testing
  • Vehicle/powertrain application
  • Agil development methods

Exercise and excursion

Parallel to the lecture there will be a series of exercises where an own software function for a demonstrator vehicle shall be developed. This software function will then be validated on the vehicle in the final exercise (practical exercise). The practical exercise will take place combined with an excursion in Aachen, along with further interesting insights into the software development at MMP and FEV.io. Detailed information will be announced during the event.

Information

All lectures and exercises documents to the lecture series can be found in Moodle learning room. If you have any problems with the registration on campus Office, please contact us.

Examination

At the end of the lecture your knowledge is assessed in a written examination.

The exam date announcement will take place in the Moodle study room.
