New Model for Traffic Simulation Package "SUMO"

25/11/2021

The Teaching and Research Area Mechatronics in Mobile Propulsion has contributed a new model for electric vehicles energy consumption to the software SUMO ("Simulation of Urban MObility"). This adds an effective tool to the open source, highly portable, microscopic and continuous traffic simulation package, considering individual powertrain components' characteristics.

Furthermore, the authors around Lucas Koch provide a case study to predict the future energy demand of an exemplary mid-sized European city, demonstrating the possibilities of the proposed model and its flexibility. We would like to thank them for developing this previously non-existent method.
